What Is Anodyne Therapy?
The Anodyne Therapy System is a safe, FDA-cleared, drugfree, non-invasive device that uses near-infrared light to safely increase local circulation and reduce pain.
How Does Anodyne Therapy Work?
The Anodyne® Therapy system uses monochromatic infrared energy (MIRE) to increase local circulation and reduce pain by releasing nitric oxide (NO) from red blood cells. Nitric oxide is a powerful vasodilator. The localized release of NO improves nerve function and is also important for growing new blood vessels and skin cells necessary for wound healing. Our program usually involves 10 to 24 therapy sessions, which may include:
- Anodyne Therapy to temporarily reduce pain and increase circulation
- Stretching and strengthening exercises
- Dynamic and static balance exercises
- Massage and the use of other therapeutic modalities for pain
Anodyne has been used in thousands of patients since 1994 to increase local circulation, improve sensation and nerve function, pain reduction and healing of chronic ulcers. This therapy can also improve balance and gait and reduce the risks of falls in patients with neuropathy.
Who Can Benefit?
Individuals with numbness or pain in their feet or legs combined with difficulty with gait or balance abnormalities. People with diabetes and peripheral vascular disease (PVD) and chronic wounds are most likely to benefit. Patients who have benefited from Anodyne include those with:
- Diabetic Neuropathy
- Carpal Tunnel/Tarsal Tunnel
- Chronic Wounds
- Chronic Pain
- Degenerative Disc Disease
- Contractures/Frozen Shoulder
