JONESBORO, AR - An unidentified man is dead this morning after a Jonesboro home goes up in flames.

Jonesboro's Fire Marshall will investigate the scene this morning to determine what set the home ablaze.  The fire occured around 8 p.m. last night at 120 North Bridge Street.

When the fire started, it apparently set off what was originally thought to be fireworks inside the home, startling firefighters at times due to explosions.  However, investigators have since determined the explosions were caused by rounds of live ammunition inside the building.   "The house was occupied at the time of the fire and there was a fatality...the fire is under investigation at this time by the Fire Marshall's office," said JFD Battalion Chief Michael Stalling.

Authorities have not yet identified the man whose body was found inside the home.  K8 News learned this morning that investigators believe the fire may be related to other similar recent fires in the area.

Meanwhile, just before that fatal fire, Jonesboro firefighters were busy battling a smaller blaze on the other side of town.  An apartment at 703 Gladioulos Apartments, just off Harrisburg Road, caught fire.  No injuries were reported, and a cause has not yet been determined.
