Overnight Storms Bring Damaging Winds

MELBOURNE, AR - Emergency managers in Johnson County say half the county is without electricity after a storm blew through last night.  The storm also damaged two homes and several businesses.

Izard County is reporting that trees and power lines are down and that at least one structure is damaged.

Several other counties, including Fulton, Logan, Pope and Searcy are reporting trees down, in some cases taking power lines with them.

The National Weather Service says showers and thunderstorms will continue through the day today, and a cold front will enter the state this afternoon.

The cold front is likely to bring more storms, some possibly severe, this afternoon and evening across Arkansas.

Two to two-and-three-quarter inches of rain fell in parts of western Arkansas yesterday.  Some localized flooding is possible with more rain.
