Former Governor's Son Arrested on Weapons Charge

LITTLE ROCK, AR - David Huckabee, the son of former Governor Mike Huckabee, was arrested by police early this morning for allegedly attempting to board an airplane with a handgun at the Little Rock National Airport.

According to ABC affiliate KATV in Little Rock, Huckabee was booked into the Pulaski County jail, then appeared before a municipal judge on a charge of taking a weapon into a secure area.

Authorities say Huckabee attempted to pass through a security checkpoint at approximately 5:30 a.m., when agents discovered the weapon in Huckabee's carry-on bag.  Police say Huckabee told authorities that he had forgotten the weapon was inside the bag.

Huckabee is a 2002 graduate of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

The incident happens as his father, Mike, is mounting a presidential run for the GOP nomination.
