Lake City Arrest Shakes Neighbors

LAKE CITY, AR--Lake City resident Jerry Brown is out on bond this after police served a warrant at his house on Catfish Drive and found drugs and at least 15 firearms.

The warrant was in relation to Tammy Walker, a former girlfriend, who allegedly passed out at least 73 hardcore pornographic DVD's featuring Brown's ex-wife and another man. Its news that is shocking to residents in Lake City.

Lake City resident Mildred Rand has known Jerry Brown for several years.

"He's a pretty nice guy. He mowed my yard last summer and always seems really nice to me. He's really a kind guy," said Rand.

That's why Rand was surprised last night when she saw on KAIT that Brown had been arrested on drug and weapon charges.

"It sure threw me through a loop because I had no idea he was that way," said Rand.

Officers with the Craighead County Sheriff's Department and Newport Police were serving a warrant at Brown's house in connection to the distribution of pornographic DVD's at his ex-wife's business in Newport, when they stumbled onto much more.

"Upon searching, officers found suspected crystal meth, field tested positive. We believe it is ice and approximately 15 or 16 firearms," said Justin Rolland of the Craighead County Sheriff's Department.

According to Brown, he is innocent. He said that Tammy Walker the woman wanted for allegedly passing out the pornographic DVD's is a former girlfriend and he didn't produce the DVD's. He has offered to be drug tested because he says the drugs are not his.

Not all of the neighbors we spoke with had good things to say about Brown. Others said that in the last year he had become distant and unapproachable.

"For me and probably for everyone else, they probably feel a little scared living by him because they don't know what is going on," said Rand.

Jerry Brown is currently out on bond and is expected back in court for a probably cause hearing on May 3rd.

Law enforcement in Craighead County and Jackson County are still looking for 36 year-old Tammy Walker for the distribution of obscene films.
