DOT Extends Grant for Mountain Home Airport

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR - The U.S. Department of Transportation today extended Baxter County's Small Community Air Service grant until October 1, 2008.

The extension will allow the county extra time to find an air carrier to start service out of the Ozarks Regional Airport at Mountain Home.  "This air service project has been a real challenge to the community and the tougher and less certain it became, the more important it was for us to work together," said Baxter County Judge Richard Hall.

More than $2.5 million in federal improvements has been invested in the airport since 2003, in order to help attract commercial air service.
