North Little Rock College Cancels Classes After Morning Threat

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - Pulaski Technical College canceled classes at all its campuses today after a caller to police said two men were planning a violent attack on the 8,700-student school.

Police spokesman Sergeant Terry Kuykendall says a man called from a telephone booth last night and reported he had overheard two men say "what we're going to do at Pulaski Tech tomorrow (today) will be worse that what happened at Virginia Tech."

Officials have not indicated whether the threat was genuine.  Police are asking for the caller to contact investigators.

Pulaski Tech President Dan Bakke says he chose to close the campus as a precaution to protect staff and students.

This is the last week of classes for the semester at Pulaski Tech, exams begin Monday.

Pulaski Tech, a commuter college, is based at North Little Rock, but also has campuses in Bauxite, Benton, Little Rock and Maumelle.

Last month, Virginia Tech student student Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people before killing himself.
