JONESBORO-It started as an aggravated assault call, but before the afternoon was over the Drug Task Force was dealing with another meth lab.

The incident happened at 5308 APT Drive,#6 late Wednesday afternoon.

"This wasn't a surprise. There's drugs going on out here all the time."

Wednesday night Ruth Evans witnessed a meth lab bust in her own back yard.

"The window is right here on this corner, and my apartment is just right here."

The whole incident started after her neighbor began making threats.

"He got a little mad at it. He said I've got something that will shut you up, and he waved something in his hand. A little while later I was doing the dishes by the kitchen window and he showed up with a gun in the window," said Evans.

This prompted a call to police, but when they went to the door, their suspect fled.

"I yelled at them that he was running out the back, and they took off after him across the field," said Evans.

Moments later the man was taken into custody.

Evans says the proximity of Wednesday night's meth lab bust hits a little too close to a place she calls home.

"I knew there was a lot of people going in and out. That happens a lot at apartments, people going in and out, but we didn't have any idea what was going on out there," said Evans.

Now all that remains are a few gloves from cleanup crews and a welcome mat that's far from welcoming.

"If I could afford to move to another place I would, but it wouldn't be any better. That's just the way things are now," said Evans.

The suspect's name has not been released at this time, but we are told he will report before a judge Friday afternoon for a probable cause hearing.
