Beebe Has Candidate in Mind to Replace Jonesboro Native as State Police Director

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Beebe indicated today that a replacement for Colonel Steve Dozier, who is leaving as head of the Arkansas State Police for a job with Wal-Mart, may be announced soon.

Beebe said he has a candidate in mind and probably a decision has been made.  But he said the decision has not yet been finalized.  Beebe said he would prefer to find someone from within the ranks of the state police to replace Dozier.

Dozier, a Jonesboro native and Arkansas State University graduate, is leaving for a job as vice president of corporate services at Wal-Mart.  He begins his new job next month.  He will oversee several parts of the company's security program.
