Mementos from Elvis' Alma Mater Live on in Restaurant Basement

MEMPHIS, TN - The old Humes High School in Memphis, Elvis' alma mater, lives on in the basement of a Beale Street restaurant.

The collection of photos and keepsakes, including lesser-known photos of its most famous graduate, is housed under the Superior Restaurant and Bar.

For the past 11 years, Humes alumni meet monthly to eat and socialize.

Painted in school colors of orange and white, it's a hidden Memphis attraction.

Jimmy Silvio, a partner in the restaurant, lets one tour company only book it on tours and allows select private parties.

There is one picture of a devastatingly good-looking Elvis getting a Coke from a machine.  In another, he gets a kiss from girlfriend Anita Wood Brewer before leaving for military service.

Humes closed as a high school in 1967, but reopened the next year as a middle school.
