Manslaughter Charge Against Horse Trainer in Death of Clinton Relative

HOT SPRINGS, AR - Prosecutors have filed manslaughter charges against a horse trainer involved in a fatal car accident that killed a distant relative of former President Clinton.

Oaklawn Park trainer Cole Norman was driving a sport-utility vehicle that allegedly crossed the center line and hit an SUV driven by 86-year-old Virginia Heath.

Norman was not injured in the accident, which happened February 5 on the south shore bridge of Lake Hamilton near Hot Springs.

Heath was related to Clinton by marriage...her mother, Ilaree, was the older sister of Roger Clinton, Sr., Bill Clinton's first stepfather.

Toxicology reports show that Norman tested positive for a tranquilizer used to treat anxiety and the painkillers hydrocodone and oxycodone.

Norman, who lives in Bossier City, Louisiana, has said he fell asleep at the wheel.

The manslaughter charge was filed Monday.  If convicted, Norman could face three to ten years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
