Drunk Woman Lying in Road Hit by Police Car

STAR CITY, AR - Police say a Star City woman survived being hit by a police car as she lay unconscious in the middle of a highway.

State Trooper Steven Drake said 24-year-old Amanda Meshelle Pierce has bruises and road rash, but no broken bones or internal injuries after she was struck Monday night.  Drake said Officer Brian Pickens of the Star City Police Department hit Pierce while driving north on Highway 11 on a rainy night.

Drake said Pierce admitted to being intoxicated after drinking whiskey.  He said a test revealed Pickens had no alcohol in his blood.

Drake said he's issued no citations over the crash.
