SIKESTON, MO - Police in southeast Missouri feel they're getting a better handle on the region's meth problem, so now they're targeting crack cocaine.
Authorities say a lot of the violence in the Sikeston area is tied to those in the crack cocaine trade. An alliance made up of local police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol will meet regularly to come up with regional solutions to address the problem.
For the past decade or so, methamphetamine has been an even worse concern than crack. In recent years, lawmakers have passed several measures aimed at making it more difficult for meth makers to get the ingredients they need.
