Nearly $3K of Lingerie Stolen from Store in Mall at Turtle Creek

May 16, 2007 - Posted at 9:24 p.m. CDT

JONESBORO, AR -- A panty raid on a Region 8 business has police searching for thousands of dollars in merchandise. Someone walked out of the Mall at Turtle Creek with 368 pairs of women's underwear...getting past store security and mall surveillance.

"It is a lot of items to be taken at one time.  The report states it's an unknown individual, so they don't have any idea who might have done it. But the dollar amount in that case is $2,760 so it is a lot of items," said Jonesboro Police Detective Chad Hogard.

368 pairs of Victoria's Secret "Pink" brand panties were taken from a store display area around 2:00 Friday afternoon.

Turtle Creek spokesman Jason Whitely wouldn't comment on the theft or allow K8 cameras in the mall, but did say Victoria's Secret had not reported the crime to him.  Jonesboro police are still searching for a suspect.

"In some cases, it could be done by an employee or it could be done by a group of people who come in from our city or another city and their sole purpose is to steal, so they know what they are doing," said Hogard.

A thief that now faces felony charges for a panty raid.

"At this time we don't have a suspect in this case and if anybody out there has any information they know who might did it, they can give us a call here at the police department," said Hogard.

To contact the Jonesboro Police Department regarding this case, call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP.
