Two Region 8 Teachers Honored by President

WASHINGTON - President Bush is honoring Jonesboro Sixth Grade Academic Center science teacher Barbara Reng and Lisa Honey, mathematics teacher at Newport's Gibbs Albright Elementary School, with the 2006 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the nation's highest honor for teaching in these fields.  Reng and Honey are the only winners from Arkansas, and two of 93 teachers nationwide to receive the prestigious award.

As award winners, Reng and Honey each receive a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation, and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC.
