Beebe Said He's Re-worked Policy on Use of State Police Plane

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Beebe said today that he has updated the policy for use of state police aircraft so the public will know more about how he used the aircraft.

Arkansas State Police are unveiling the agency's new aircraft today.  The Beechcraft King Air replaces a state police airplane that was frequently used by Beebe's predecessor, former Governor Mike Huckabee.

Beebe says his office will release new policies for use of the state plane and recording his travels.  Beebe says the records will include details on the purpose of his travels.

The plane was frequently used by Huckabee, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination.  In 2006, through November, the plane was used for Huckabee or his wife, Janet, 55 times, down from 80 in all of 2005.  That includes 21 out-of-state trips, compared with 40 in the previous year.
