Boozman Introduces Bill Increasing Penalties for Flavored Meth

LITTLE ROCK, AR - An Arkansas congressman says illegal methamphetamine makers should be punished more severely if they target their products at youngsters.

Congressman John Boozman introduced a bill yesterday at Washington that would increase the mandatory minimum sentences for those caught making the drug in sweetened form.  His bill is a response to reports of methamphetamine being flavored with powdered drink mixes and other products.

Boozman says that sweetened meth clearly targets youngsters.

Boozman's bill would increase fines and jail time rules for those convicted of cooking methamphetamine designed to appeal to minors because of its packaging, coloring or flavor.  Boozman says the bill would double the current mandatory sentences.
