Gas Prices Decrease from Last Week's Record Highs

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Average gas prices in Arkansas dipped today after breaking records in the past two weeks.

The AAA reports that the average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline is $3.11 today, down a penny from yesterday.  Arkansas' average price slid from a record high a week ago of $3.18 a gallon.

The national average today is $3.20 a gallon, unchanged from a day earlier.  The highest record price was set last Thursday for the national average, at $3.22 a gallon.

Around the state, average gas prices backed down from last week's high.  Today, gas is cheapest in Texarkana, with the average price of a gallon of unleaded gas at $2.95.

Gas continued to be the most expensive in northwest Arkansas, with average prices of $3.24 in the Fayetteville, Springdale and Rogers area, and $3.22 in Fort Smith.

In Jonesboro, today's average price is $2.96 per gallon.
