HOLLY GROVE, AR - The Holly Grove police chief has been fired after a series of suspected arsons were reported in the Monroe County town.
Police Chief Jason Johnston was fired by a unanimous vote of the Holly Grove City Council. Johnston led a two-member department.
Mayor Lula Tyler says the residents just don't feel protected anymore. The most recent fire happened May 15 at a daycare center. It is one of several suspected arsons in the area over the past month.
The mayor said Johnston's firing wasn't directly related to the fires, but the city needs new leadership.
