Developing Story: Three Sex Offenders and Three Girls in Custody

JONESBORO, AR -- Police in the Poplar Bluff area late Friday night captured the six teens who escaped from the Consolidated Youth Services Center in Jonesboro Thursday night.

Three of the teens are boys who are considered "violent offenders".  17-year-old Richard Richards of Greenbriar, 17-year-old Marcus Galloway of Conway and 18-year-old Shawn Hester of Yakima, Washington all escaped just after 11:00 p.m. Thursday night from the Consolidated Youth Services.  Richards and Hester were convicted of rape, Galloway guilty of second degree sexual assault.  Authorities say Hester was only days away from being released.

"Once the three male subjects left their facility they went next door to an adjacent building and threw a rock threw a window so the three juvenile females could escape also and they all left together as a group," said Oliver.

A 14-year-old and two 15-year-old girls were found with them.

"Occasionally we do have kids that walk away from out there.  I'm not going to say it happens a lot but periodically we do have kids that's not that unusual that kids might walk away from out there.  Because they are considered low risk and it is a low security and it's pretty easy to get out if they want out," said Oliver.
