Secretary of State Sees Only Expense, No Benefit from Early Presidential Primary

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Arkansas Secretary of State Charlie Daniels says he sees little, if any, benefit to the state from moving the presidential primaries to February 5.  As it happens, Arkansas could end up sharing that date with 22 other states, so Daniels says Arkansas isn't likely to attract much attention from candidates in either major party.

But Daniels said holding the presidential primaries on their own, apart from state and local primary elections that will still be held in May, will cost the state an additional $2.5 million.  He wonders if it's worth it.
