Beebe Names New Director for State Crime Lab

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Beebe named a long-time state Crime Laboratory employee to head the agency today.

Kermit B. Channel II, 45, will serve as the lab's new executive director.  Channel replaces former director J.R. Howard, who became U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Arkansas in May.

Channel started as an autopsy technician at the Lab in 1987.  In 2005, he received the attorney general's Larry Dunklin Award for Outstanding Advocacy and Service to Victims of Crime.
