Arkansas WWII Vets Make Trip to Washington

CONWAY, AR - Forty-seven World War Two veterans from Arkansas are making a four-day tour of the nation's capital, compliments of the state's public television network.

The Arkansas Educational Television Network arranged for the veterans to travel to Washington tomorrow, with a send-off by Governor Beebe, and are to return on Tuesday.

Veterans chosen for the AETN "Tribute Tour" participated in the network's project to collect oral histories from WWII veterans.  More than 200 veterans have completed the interviews and participants for the tour were selected randomly.

The Arkansas group will visit the National World War Two Memorial, the United States Holocause Memorial Museum, the Washington National Cathedral and other memorials.

Funding for the tour comes from private donations and the oral history project.
