John Daly Claims Wife Attacks Him with Steak Knife

MEMPHIS, TN - John Daly says his wife attempted to stab him with a steak knife earlier today before he was scheduled to play in a golf tournament near his home in Memphis.

Deputies told The Commercial Appeal newspaper in Memphis that Daly had minor cuts on both sides of his face.

A photo taken of Daly on the first tee of of the Stanford St. Jude Championship showed scratches and red marks on his right cheek.

Daly's wife called authorities this morning to report an altercation, but she and the couple's children were gone from their home on the TPC Southwind course when deputies arrived shortly after 7 a.m.

No charges have been filed.  However, officers gave the golfer a domestic violence pamplet and advised him he could swear out a warrant for her arrest.

Daly shot a back-nine 33 yesterday, but ended the day in the rough.

He told deputies that he and his wife argued last night at a restaurant near the golf course and his home.
