Governor Names Jonesboro Native State's First Female Banking Commissioner

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A 27-year veteran of the state's Bank Department will become the first woman to serve as its commissioner.

Candace Franks was named to the post today by Governor Beebe.  Franks joined the Bank Department in 1980 and she became deputy bank commissioner in 1995.

A native of Jonesboro, Franks served on two governor's task forces addressing banking issues and has been a member of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors since 1980.

She replaces Robert H. "Bunny" Adcock, appointed as commissioner by then-Governor Mike Huckabee in 2003.  Adcock's term expired Monday, but he will continue to serve until Franks takes office.
