Jonesboro, AR -- Heather Flanigan Reports

Club Red Becomes Electric Cowboy

June 13, 2007 - Posted at 9:20 p.m. CDT

JONESBORO, AR -- Two weeks ago, one of Jonesboro's private clubs closed its doors...Thursday night it reopens...with a different name, feel and attitude. Jonesboro's new Electric Cowboy, housed in the building Club Red once occupied, is one of 14 locations in seven states.

It's a neon dream waiting to happen at Jonesboro's new Electric Cowboy.

"It does have a different feel to it, it does have a little different type atmosphere," said president of MLT Management Marshal Till, "We've been doing this for 30 years.  Between my partners and I, we manage 26 clubs."

New changes worth $100,000 to the building, including a state of the art laser light show system just above a new 1,000 square foot wooden platform dance floor.  Pool tables, new carpet and paint throughout the building give it a completely different feel.

Oh, and did we mention you can take a ride on a mechanical bull?

"It will be a lot of fun, a lot of groups will come out and cheer each other on, it will be a lot of fun, the mechanical bull," said Till.

The private club plans to be open Tuesdays through Sunday...and hopes to offer something different to Jonesboro.

"We're doing a lot of different things, we're having comedy night on Tuesday nights and dance lessons once we get open and we'll have some contests.  It'll be some different atmosphere going on every night," said Till.

Managers hope a different atmosphere will lead to more people through the doors and they are taking steps to make it easier to get electric.

"We give memberships away, they are all free.  as long as they qualify and are of age and have a valid id, we give memberships away," said Till, "I think if people will give us a chance to let us entertain them, we'll show them a good time in a nice safe environment."

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. for the official grand opening and doors open to the club Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
