Frustrated Huckabee Says Media Cares More About Spears, Hilton than Next Leader

AMES, IOWA - Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee says the news media are more interested in Brittney Spears and Paris Hilton than the nation's next leader.

Asked yesterday in Iowa how he could break out of a pack of Republican candidates considered in the second tier behind a trio of front-runners, Huckabee complained about a lack of media attention.

Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, met with reporters after touring a high-tech bioscience company in Ames, Iowa.  He acknowledged frustration that an inordinate amount of attention was given to leading GOP candidates Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Mitt Romney.

Huckabee says the first three Republican debates have given him some exposure, but he says the front-runners got more time in the debates, too.

Still, Huckabee says he is optimistic that his campaign will pick up steam once GOP voters analyze the Republican candidates.

Huckabee was in Iowa yesterday to open his Iowa campaign headquarters.
