Butler County Man Dies After Fight Over Fishing Poles

POPLAR BLUFF, MO - An autopsy is being performed on a southeast Missouri man who reportedly died after a fight over fishing poles.

The victim is 23-year-old Tommy Haugen of Butler County.  He was pronounced dead yesterday morning after at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

A 17-year-old suspect is being held.  His name has not been released.

The Butler County sheriff's office says Haugen accused the teenager of stealing fishing poles from the victim's friend, prompting a confrontation Sunday night in the teen's driveway.  The teenager allegedly hit the victim in the head once with an iron pipe.
