HUGHES, AR - An officer working part-time as the police chief in Hughes while also serving full-time as a lieutenant on the police force of Madison, just outside of Forrest City, has lost his part-time gig.
Todd Gray, hired in May, was terminated by Hughes Mayor Donnie Mooney last week. They mayor said several City Council members complained to him about Gray's performance, and Gray's continued employment at Madison was also an issue.
Mooney said no decision has been made on whether a new police chief would be hired. He said the other possibility is contracting with the St. Francis County sheriff's office to provide police protection for Hughes.
