Former Razorback Star Accused of Theft, Fraud

HAMBURG, AR - A star running back for Arkansas three-and-a-half decades ago faces charges of theft and computer fraud that accuse him of duping people out of about $100,000.

Dickey Morton still holds the Razorback record for rushing yards in a game...271 yards against Baylor in 1973.  State police said yesterday that the 55-year-old Morton was arrested at his Hamburg home last week on 21 felony counts.

According to Morton's lawyer, Robert Bridewell of Lake Village, the former Arkansas tailback says he has documents that will support his claim of innocence.

Morton is free on $50,000 bond.  He faces ten counts of computer fraud and eleven counts of theft involving hay sales, farm equipment dealerships and leases for oil and gas wells.
