First Lady Concludes Statewide Tour on Children's Mental Health Issues

LITTLE ROCK, AR - First Lady Ginger Beebe has completed her two-month statewide listening tour devoted to children's mental health needs.  The tour began on May 8 in northeast Arkansas and ended today, as Beebe and a team of child-health advocates met with more than 80 familes from 37 Arkansas counties.

"The experiences that these families face can be overwhelming but I believe that we have a responsibility as a state to guarantee that all Arkansans are given the opportunity to reach their full potential," said Beebe.

The information gathered from the families will be provided to the Children's Behavioral Health Commission, which was created by Act 1593 of the 2007 legislative session.  Governor Mike Beebe will appoint the initial members of the commission later this month.
