LITTLE ROCK, AR - A U.S. Senate committee has advanced a measure that would provide more than $12 million in funding for an agency that provides grants to counties in the Mississippi Delta.
The Senate Appropriations Committee's recommended funding for the Delta Regional Authority is double what the House approved. A conference committee will likely decide the final amount for the agency sometime this fall.
Congressman Marion Berry, a Democrat, has criticized the agency for its administrative spending. A spokeswoman for Berry says he won't work to block the appropriation.
