Plane Crash in Taiwan Claims Life of Harrison Man

HARRISON, AR - An Arkansas man teaching English as a second language in Taiwan was fatally injured last weekend when a small plane he was riding crashed, his pastor says.

John Eric Hope, 21, of Harrison, was riding recreationally in the plane when it crashed Saturday, according to Jerry Backus of First Baptist Church of Bull Shoals.  Backus told The Associated Press that Hope was only a few weeks from returning home.

Backus said the plane's pilot was also killed.

Backus said Hope was heavily involved with his church and had a passion for serving people.
