Flooding Death Reported In Missouri

MISSOURI - One death is being reported as another set of severe thunderstorms tracks south across the Plains today. In Missouri, authorities say a 16-year-old was killed when she tried to drive through a flooded crossing and was swept into a creek.

Her body was found inside her submerged vehicle last night. The weather has already been blamed for eleven deaths in Texas in the past two weeks. Floodwaters have been ebbing in many communities, but forecasters are warning the new storms could cause new problems.

One focus of the concern is a lake along the Oklahoma-Texas border, where authorities say water could clear the dam today. They're warning ranchers to move livestock to higher ground and residents to have an evacuation plan ready.
