"Dyess Days" Set for This Weekend in Johnny Cash's Hometown

DYESS, AR - The small Region 8 community of Dyess is best known for being the hometown of American music icon Johnny Cash, and the Mississippi County community celebrates that heritage beginning this evening with the annual Dyess Homecoming Days.

Country music artists Mel McDaniel and Mickey Gilley will headline concerts tonight and tomorrow evening at Dyess.  McDaniel will perform this evening, while Gilley and his Urban Cowboy Band are slated to perform tomorrow night.  Proceeds raised from the event will be used to help the community restore the historic Dyess High School property and city Administration Building.

Radio and television personality Gene Williams, like Cash, also a Dyess native, will also return to his hometown this weekend to help with the events.

More information is available by calling the Dyess City Hall at 870-764-2101.
