Former JHS, Razorback Star Thompson Sentenced to Six Years in Prison

FAYETTEVILLE, AR - Former Arkansas basketball player Ali Thompson, a Jonesboro native, has been sentenced to six years in prison for beating the mother of his child, and the sentence will run concurrently with a federal firearms sentence.  The 30-year-old Thompson, who lettered for the Razorbacks from 1996 to 1998, pleaded guilty in Washington County Circuit Court to third-degree domestic battery.  Thompson was charged after a January 26 incident in Fayetteville.

Deputy Prosecutor David Harris says the domestic battery charge enhanced the federal sentence, and Thompson is expected to serve nearly five years of his sentence in federal prison.

Thompson also has a 2000 Washington County drug conviction and a prior misdemeanor domestic battery conviction.

Thompson prepped at Jonesboro High School, and helped lead JHS to a state title in the mid 1990s.
