Survivor of White River Drownings Says Car's Driver Intended to Submerge Car

CUSHMAN, AR - The only person who survived when a car carrying three people plunged into the White River says the driver intentionally put the car in the water.  Independence County sheriff's deputies say 58-year-old John Wesley Bunch was behind the wheel, with 49-year-old Jimmy Dean White and 20-year-old Tannaka Smith as passengers.

Sheriff's Captain Bill Lindsey says White and Bunch, both of Cushman, died in the incident on Sunday.  Smith, who kicked through a back window and got out as the car was sinking, told deputies that Bunch drove into the water intentionally.
