New Rice Mill Being Built in South Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR  - Work has begun in south Jonesboro on a new $7.5 million rice mill that is designed to process seven million bushels a year. The mill will be built on 42 acres along Arkansas Highway 1 at the edge of the Jonesboro city limits. The facility is designed to process about 22,000 bushels of rough rice a day.

The mill is to be complete early next year and will supply retail, food-service, industrial and export marketing programs in the U.S. and abroad. Will Floyd is a partner in the venture. He says the mill will be the first food-grade commodity rice mill built in the Arkansas Delta in 20 years. He says the mill will employ 35 people.
