Sheriff: No Arrests in Amanda Tusing Case

MONETTE, AR - A report of a confession and arrest in the seven-year-old unsolved murder case of Amanda Tusing of Dell is merely a rumor, according to Craighead County Sheriff Jack McCann.

In the past 24 hours, rumors have been running wild, particularly in the Buffalo Island area of eastern Craighead County, that a man with a criminal record had confessed to Tusing's death, as well as another homicide.  "That's just a rumor," McCann told K8 News this morning.  "I wish it were true, but there has been no arrest."

The 20-year-old Tusing, a student at Arkansas Northeastern College in Blytheville, disappeared while driving from her fiance's Jonesboro apartment back to her home in Dell on the night of June 14, 2000.  Her abandoned car was found parked alongside Highway 18 just outside of Monette, with no signs of trauma.  Four days later, her body was found in the Big Bay Ditch in eastern Craighead County.

The Tusing case was the subject of an episode of Court TV's Haunting Evidence program last year.
