State Unemployment Rate Down

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Arkansas' unemployment rate fell two-tenths of a percentage point to 5.0 percent last month, as some seasonal employees came back to work.

Statistics from the state Dept. of Workforce Services show Arkansas' unemployment rate remained above the national rate of 4.5 percent, which remained unchanged in June.

Statewide, the number of workers reported out of work dropped by 3,300 to 68,000.

The Dept. of Workforce Services says the jobless rate is three-tenths of a percentage point below the June 2006 rate of 5.3 percent.
