ST. LOUIS, MO - More than 50 animals were rescued from an unlicensed breeder in southeast Missouri.
The Humane Society of Missouri says a team rescued more than 50 small-to-medium sized dogs believed to be endangered on a property near Gipsy, in Bollinger County.
The breeds include Pomeranians, French bulldogs, Maltese, long-haired dachshunds, long and short-haired Chihuahuas, one Yorkie Maltese mix puppy, a litter of six-week-old short-haired Chihuahua puppies and a Scottish terrier.
The group says the animals were kept in unsanitary conditions and suffer from dental problems, overgrown toenails, blindness and severe matting.
The dogs were taken to St. Louis for medical care and attention.
