NAFA Plans Free "Animals in Disaster" Workshop

JONESBORO, AR - Northeast Arkansans for Animals will host a free "Animals in Disaster" seminar this Sunday afternoon.  The event is set for 1 p.m. in the Round Room of the Craighead County-Jonesboro Public Library.

Topics include basic first aid for pets, how to prepare an animal disaster kit, how to prepare a pet ID kit, steps to getting animals ready for a disaster, and more.

"Although the protection of human life is the highest priority during a disaster, recent research, and the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina has shown that proper preparation and effective coordination of animal rescue enhances the ability of emergency personnel to protect both human and animal health and safety," said NAFA Director Wannda Turner.
