Warrant Issued for Suspect in 1999 Slaying in Mountain View

MOUNTAIN VIEW, AR - Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a man sought in the 1999 slaying of a 72-year-old woman in Mountain View.

Stone County officials are seeking 50-year-old Danny Noel Taylor, who is believed to be living in northeast Arkansas or in the Memphis, Tennessee, area.  Taylor is charged with first-degree murder for the slaying of Marietta "Sandy" Whetnall.

State police say Taylor is also a person of interest in the 1999 disappearance of Patsy Ann Barker of Marked Tree.

Police say Whetnall died from multiple sharp-force head injuries and smothering.  State police say Taylor was a suspect from the time Whetnall was killed, but new information provided enough evidence to charge him.

State police say Taylor and Baker moved to Mountain View together.  Baker was last seen on June 23, 1999.

State police are continuing to investigate, along with local agencies and the FBI.

Anyone with information on where Taylor may be is asked to call Arkansas State Police Troop I headquarters in Harrison at 870-741-3455.
