Poplar Bluff Police Arrest Federal Fugitive

POPLAR BLUFF, MO - A man described as a "dangerous fugitive" was arrested this morning in Poplar Bluff.

Authorities say 31-year-old Bradley Fortner is wanted by the FBI and local police agencies in several states for a string of bank robberies and armed robberies.

Officers say an employee at Costello's Restaurant in Poplar Bluff heard a suspicous noise in the attic of the business.  The employee then called police, and that's where they found Fortner hiding.

After a two hour standoff, police talked Fortner into giving himself up without further incident.  Police say Fortner initially gave them a false name, but later told them his true identity.

Poplar Bluff police will turn Fortner over to federal agents.
