JONESBORO, AR -- Jonesboro Police are searching for a set of thieves who stole three cars from a Jonesboro car lot on Thursday night around 11:30. The theft happened at Car Choice on Nettleton. Because of the large number of vehicles on their lot, the owners said they don't do an inventory everyday of what is on the lot. Car Choice owner Ray Osment said the discovery was made on Friday afternoon when a salesperson was helping a potential customer.
"Salesperson came over to show a person a vehicle to a customer, realized that one wasn't here and then we did an inventory of the vehicles and noticed we had three missing," said Car Choice Owner Ray Osment.
The three cars missing are a burgundy 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, a 2006 red Dodge Durango, and a 2004 silver Chevrolet Trailblazer.
"Right off hand it's about $60,000 in vehicles. It's the biggest hit we've ever had by far," said Osment.
The Jonesboro Police Department told K8 News they do have ''persons of interest'' in this case. Osment said this isn't the first time they've had something like this happen at their car lot.
"People steal parts off cars and things like that. That's just a part of doing business, but for them to steal three cars is really frustrating," said Osment.
In addition to having a good lead on suspects, the police told K8 News they also think they know how the cars were stolen. Keys to cars on the lot were hung from a board in the break room. The owners said they believe a "customer" may have gone to the break room to get a soda and helped themselves to some of the keys.
Ray Osment told K8 News that he will be offering a reward of $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest, conviction, and return of the stolen vehicles.
