Reservations for Emancipation Proclamation Begin Wednesday in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Clinton Center will begin taking reservations tomorrow to view the 144-year-old Emancipation Proclamation, which will be on display at the center in September.

The document will be the centerpiece of an exhibit called "The Last Struggle," showing how presidential decisions influenced the civil rights movement.  President Abraham Lincoln issued the proclamation January1, 1863, freeing slaves amid the Civil War.

The original document will be on exhibit for four days, Sept. 22-25, on loan from the National Archives.

The cost to view the exhibit is included in the regular price of admission to the Clinton Center.  Reservations can be made by calling 501-244-2856.
