Beebe Sets His First Execution Date as Governor

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Beebe has set a September 18 execution date for a man convicted of killing a 22-year-old college student in 1993 at a Little Rock laundry.

Terrick Nooner had requested an immediate execution, although he also had a federal lawsuit challenging the way Arkansas executes prisoners.  The state Supreme Court denied his request.

The 36-year-old condemned man was convicted of the robbery and murder of Scot Stobaugh, who was attending the University of Arkansas at Little Rock when he was shot to death while doing his laundry.

Nooner's execution is the first thing that Beebe has set since taking office in January.
