Jonesboro to Host Historic Preservation Forum

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, an agency of the Dept. of Heritage, will conduct a public forum in Jonesboro on August 14 to solicit comments on regional historic preservation issues.

"The AHPP is updating its state historic preservation plan and will hold meetings across the state to determine the historic preservation priorities of the people of Arkansas," said AHPP Director Ken Grunewald.  "The comments we get at these meetings and through a questionnaire that will be available on our website at www.arkansaspreservation.org between August 1 and September 30 will help shape our goals and efforts for the next five years."

The Jonesboro forum is set for 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce office on Nettleton Avenue.  The forum is targeted to residents of Craighead, Lawrence, Randolph, Clay, Greene, Mississippi, Poinsett, Cross, Jackson and Woodruff counties.

Other regional meetings are planned in Texarkana, El Dorado, Pine Bluff, Eureka Springs, Heber Springs (Aug. 13), Hot Springs, Helena and Little Rock.
