PIGGOTT, AR - The 50th anniversary celebration of the landmark movie, 'A Face in the Crowd,' which was filmed in northeast Arkansas, will be held at the Piggott Community Center on Saturday, September 15, and is sponsored by the Arkansas State University Alumni Association and the city of Piggott.
Many ASU alumni were involved in the 1957 film, which starred Andy Griffith and Patricia Neal. Neal will be the honored guest at the event, along with noted film critic Dr. Foster Hirsch. The event will also include a showing of the movie and a banquet with Neal.
The movie was filmed in and around Piggott, and includes scenes at ASU's Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center. 'A Face in the Crowd' marked the screen debut of Griffith, as well as actor Lee Remick, and also starred Walter Matthau.
