Paragould Teacher Charged With Sexual Assault of Minor

PARAGOULD/MARMADUKE, AR-25 year old Monica Cluck is charged with first degree sexual assault and contributing to a minor.

The accusations come after a videotape surfaced showing her and a 17 year old boy from her church group drinking alcohol and having sex.

She was arrested on tuesday.

Cluck was a kindergarten teacher at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Paragould. She resigned from that position on Wednesday after her arrest.

Not only did she teach children at the elementary school, but she was also a Sunday school teacher and led the Singing Hands choir group at First Baptist Church in Marmaduke.

It is there where the most shock lies.

"My initial reaction was deep and grave concern for the people, our community, the students, the families. It's just a great, great concern."

A great concern to pastor Kim Bridges, because the 17-year-old boy was a member of the church.

"We've got to decide how we can make it better. That's the key, is how we can not let this happen again. That's most important," said Bridges.

While the actions of Cluck may have left a community hurting and asking many questions, Pastor Bridges says it's this time, when everyone must unite.

"Week after week, after week, we spend our lives trying to encourage folks, and that is what we are still going to do. Hopefully we will regroup as a team and do our very best. We're going to pray for one another. Jesus said, "By this shall all men know that you are My disciples if you have loved one for the other." That's our job. That's what we are to do," said Bridges.

Cluck was released from the Greene County Detention center without bond, however, the matter is still being investigated by the Greene County Sheriff's Department.

If convicted, Cluck's sexual assault charge will serve as a Class A Felony.
